The 5 Steps to LLQP Certification

Follow this official administrative process strictly to transition from a candidate to a fully licensed Life Insurance professional in Ontario.

01

Choose an Approved LLQP Provider

You must select and register with an authorized LLQP provider recognized in respective province (such as IFSE Institute, Oliver’s Learning, or Advocis) to obtain your official study portal and course materials.

*Note: Independent mentors like Sai Trinadh Cherukuri can help guide your study path, but registration must be with an official provider.*

02

Complete the Pre-Qualification Course

Study the mandatory core modules: Life Insurance, Ethics and Professional Practice, Accident and Sickness, and Segregated Funds. You must successfully pass the online pre-qualification certification exams administered by your provider to unlock the provincial registry system.

03

Pass the Official licensing Exams

Once registered on CIPR (Canadian Insurance Participant Registry), sign up for the official licensing exams through College. To obtain full certification, you must score at least 60% on each of the distinct module assessments.

04

Meet Industry Sponsorship Requirements

Before submitting your application to the regulator, secure formal business sponsorship from an insurance agency or financial institution registered in Ontario. You must also purchase mandatory Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance coverage.

05

Apply for Your License via Regulatory Authority portal

Submit your formal licensing request through the Regulatory Authority portal. Your sponsoring company will endorse the online application, and upon Regulatory standard review and payment processing, you will receive your active agent credentials.

LLQP Questions I Can Help You Understand

Navigating the Life License Qualification Program can feel overwhelming. Here are clear, direct answers to the most common challenges candidates bring to our mentorship sessions.

What is the LLQP?

The Life License Qualification Program is Canada’s mandatory educational portal to become certified to sell life insurance and accident & sickness products.

How do I start?

You must register with an approved certification provider, study the modules, pass the certification tests, and then schedule your official provincial exams.

What are the modules?

There are four key modules: Life Insurance, Accident and Sickness, Segregated Funds and Annuities, and Ethics and Professional Practice.

What happens after I pass?

Once certified, you must find a sponsoring insurance agency, complete registration with your provincial regulator, and apply for your operational license.

How long does it take?

Most candidates finish in 2 to 3 months of consistent, focused part-time study. Dynamic structured planning helps reduce this study window significantly.

What is the passing grade?

You must achieve at least 60% on each of the four modular exams. The certification modules and the provincial exams share this passing threshold.

What if I fail a module?

Do not worry—you only retake the specific modules you missed. Together, we will pinpoint your weaknesses and perfect your study approach before the rewrite.

Can I study part-time?

Yes, completely. The program is designed for flexible learning. Most of my students successfully balance preparing for their career shift alongside full-time jobs.

Is the exam difficult?

The conceptual material is rigorous, but structured preparation makes passing highly attainable. Knowing how questions are styled changes everything.

How do I get licensed?

Once provincial exams are passed, you must purchase Error & Omissions insurance, apply to the provincial regulator, and secure active brokerage sponsorship.
